Hi everyone!
I know I've been a terrible MyIGNer this year. Haven't posted blogs in for what seems like forever, nor have I been commenting. I've kind of just been a ghost appearing to comment on status updates every now and then! I apologize, I've been very busy with school. This is my first year living away at university, so I've just been adjusting to life here and its many distractions. Any who, last weekend was New York Comic Con! Once again it was very fun, I recommend going if any one gets the chance to. It is quite an experience!
So without further ado I will go through the highlights of the day:
This year I attended New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 10th (compared to last year I went Friday). I went with my roommate (lucentsilver) and another friend. My roommate cosplayed as Umbreon (last year she was Ash Ketchum, she upgraded from being a trainer to being a Pokémon!), she made a very homemade costume. I helped, but neither of us are dedicated enough to make outfits, so we literally just used yellow duct tape to make Umbreon patterns. It worked out fairly well, people asked for her picture! My other friend didn't dress up. Below is a picture of them with the Green Arrow (since they both are obsessed with the CW show).
I went as Bee from Bee and Puppycat. I actually bought this costume last year from the WeLoveFine booth. This year I bought a Puppycat wallet from them to complete the outfit!
Saturday is a lot more crowded than Friday. It was a lot harder to take photographs since there were so many people. I also feel this year was more business oriented, but nonetheless still fun! The first thing we encountered was this nice Breast Cancer Awareness stand hosted by Chevy, everything was pink. For a good cause we took a picture and then shared it on social media. Each hashtag gave a $5 donation, so it was a good cause. #IDriveFor a cure!
Jurassic World was also a sponsor for Comic Con this year, so they had this tropical set up. At first, we were like what is this for and then when we walked back later there was a raptor there! It was actually really funny the sea of people looking at it like it was real. I'm not sure if it was animatron or a person, but regardless that raptor was very real!
After we continued to the show floor. We did not attend any panels, because those lines are too long. I really did want to see the Boruto movie, since Naruto is my favorite anime (I know so mainstream), but I like it. We walked up and down the aisles looking at clothing, plushies, figurines, etc. Then all of sudden we ran into Team Rocket and they tried to kidnap Umbreon.
Umbreon was fine, so we continued on. We ran into other Pokemon too, like Charizard! There were a lot of Pokemon around per usual. We saw others leik Mudkip and bunch of other Umbreon! We even saw someone wearing a Pokémon Symphonic Evolutions t-shirt, we asked if he went to the New York concert, and he did! My roommate and I have the same t-shirt as well as the poster (which we got signed by the conductor, singer and producers). The night was also an experience, that Pokémon concert is now heading to Europe and Mexico, so go if you get the chance!
We also saw other popular anime cosplays. My roommate is essentially obsessed with Fairy Tale, she was determined to find a Natsu. We found a female Natsu, she was cool. We also saw Erza and Juvia. I saw some great Naruto cosplays and a lot of Sword Art Online characters. There was also a lot of Tokyo Ghoul cosplays. Pretty much everyone looked awesome.
There were also video game characters there! I saw a really good Mad Moxxi from Borderlands, but it was so crowded, so I couldn't get a picture. However, I have recently got back into Destiny because of The Taken King, so I was happy to have found a Warlock and a Hunter guardian! It's funny because when I found both of them at different times, but when I wanted to take a picture they were fixing their cosplays! The Warlock had to fix his gloves and the Hunter had to fix his leg wraps. Both costumes were spot on! The Hunter is wearing a helmet that I actually currently own/wear in game :p
I also so this great Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask cosplay;
We eventually found the Just Dance stage. Last year they had Just Dance 2015 and I think it was actually hosted by Ubisoft. This year there was Just Dance 2015 again, but it was hosted by Marriott Courtyard. However, this time they gave us clips of our dance moves. It's funny because I actually got the 100 point achievement for getting 5 stars on every song! We picked the song Black Widow by Jessie J; here are too clips of our uncoordinated dancing. (I came in 1st!)

I bought a Sinon figurine because I really liked her character in Sword Art Online. Plus, her sniper was really cool. we made our way to artist alley. Again, we all bought some more stuff. I actually bought artwork from the same person I bought my two prints last time; Finni Chang. Her work is just really good, so this year I bought 5 small prints; 3 Zelda/Pokémon crossovers, 1 Fire Emblem Awakening and 1 Bravely Default print. I also bought artwork from Missy Pena because I liked how she took famous paintings and incorporated Pokémon into them! I also bought a sweet Asuna/Kirito print by Kevin (I forgot his last name, but he signed the print).
That pretty much sums up my experience!
I highly recommend going if you get the chance.
If you feel like reminiscing about New York Comic Con 2014 that blog is here!
Have you ever been to Comic Con (does not have to be New York)?
If so where and how was your experience?
